A person who spiked candy with sleeping medication and distributed them to youngsters at a youth camp in the area has confessed to sexual offenses against two young males who were nine and ten years old.
The defendant was arrested after eight minors and one adult experienced illness at Stathern Lodge in the summer month.
The senior citizen, from the Nottinghamshire area, admitted guilt to a total of 17 charges when he was present at the judicial center on Friday.
Nevertheless, he denied one particular crime he was charged with, which was against a nine-year-old boy.
The accused was remanded in custody prior to a subsequent court date on November 28th.
'Treat game'
The legal representative, handling the case, outlined the criminal behavior to the judicial body.
She explained his targets were under-privileged children who were staying at a summer program which he managed.
The man engaged in a "sweet game" with the children, Mrs Prior said, in which he would go into the boys' rooms when they were getting ready for bed and ask them to eat sweets "as quickly as they can".
She stated to the judge Ruben had played this game with the young males "for many years", and minors had earlier experienced illness the subsequent day.
She stated the defendant had been capable of justifying this over a long period as the minors being "overwrought by enjoyment", until his stepchild had concerns in July 2025.
The prosecutor stated further: "This year his stepchild had suspicions about what was going on, with valid cause.
"They chose" to investigate in the individual's items."
The legal counsel explained objects including infant oil, ointment and medical needles were discovered, and his stepson contacted the law enforcement about his concerns.
She stated the defendant went on to play the "candy game" with six youngsters that night - Saturday 26 July - and they were all ill the subsequent day.
"The police had not gone out by that stage," she added.
The regulatory agency, the investigative body, previously told that it was examining Leicestershire Police's handling of the incident.
The legal representative said the minors were struggling to walk due to their condition, so Ruben's stepson notified the authorities again.
She said the defendant then engaged in the "candy game" in a area of five children.
